Themes in literature and beyond

Your first assignment for this blog is to pick one theme that is important for many cultures or stories.
Think of a movie that you've watched,  a book that you've read,  a play that you've seen or even an important story passed down in your family.
Themes are the big ideas,  the ideas that about humans and the world around us that transcend time and place.

In a simple way,  themes are what make a story great, make us wonder and question our lives.

Themes are tied to the problem a protagonist must solve and every yearning that causes conflict in a protagonist.

Your assignment is to find a theme and tell us about it.  It does not have to come from an English book or movie.  It is better if it comes from your culture and you can bring it into our English classroom.

Look at the list that I gave you in class.  Start with the plot of your favorite genre and keep thinking.
You will find the theme!

Write at least 200 words.  Please check for grammar before you post and read the blog expectations!

Good luck!
